Version Control

The primary function of Version Management is to keep track of all your Cognos artifacts and its history. A history consists of all the versions from the initial version to the current version of your cognos artifact. With the pre-built incremental auto synch capability, you have the fullback-up of the content in your environment and can retrieve it any time. The software supports following features:

• Versions all types of Cognos objects anywhere in the content store, supporting unlimited number of versions.
• CheckIn /CheckOut functionality of all the content in public folders and my folders helps controlling the development environment.
• Integrate-able with version control software like Visual Source Safe, SVN and others.
• Track Changes between any two versions can be chosen for comparison and the differences can be previewed visually in a window with highlighted colors.
• Locking of Reports can be done for preventing multiple accesses to the same report and helps in maintaining Report Consistency.
• Use Command-line interface to create batch files for all the functionality by providing required parameters and integrate with standard build tools.

Release Management

Release management makes the process totally transparent giving you total control every step of the way. It even keeps a log of all released versions of objects.Takes the risk out of releasing content from one environment to another.You no longer need worry about overwriting cognosartifacts with the risk of catastrophic failure.The software supports following features:

• Release entire package and folder hierarchies or individual objects such as reports and models to the target server.
• Release objects that already exist on the target server updates them instead of replacing them; reporting objects can be validated before being released, objects can be released to any existing location on the server or a new one you create.
• Cognos artifacts from user's personal folders can also be promoted to the target server to personal or public locations.
• Content can be released to/from public and personal folders with equal ease across Content Stores.
• A log history of all releases are kept for reference and audit needs.
• Use Command-line interface to schedule and integrate with internal release management tools.

License Management

License Management makes it easy to keep track of Cognos licenses deployed in your environment while ensuring complete license compliance. One needs to make sure that only the allowed number of licenses are in use, and at the same time, that there are enough licenses for everyone using it.This can include monitoring of concurrent usage of software for real-time enforcement of license limits. Such license monitoring usually includes when a license needs to be updated due to version changes or when upgrades or even rebates are possible.The software supports following features:
